The Nautimedia team experiences the IQFoil Youth & Junior World Championship firsthand
The Balearic Islands are the birthplace of great sailors, but they also stand out for hosting significant national and international competitions. Each year, the world's top athletes in various disciplines sail our waters in the Princess Sofia Trophy, organized jointly by the Club Nàutic S’Arenal, the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, and the Real Club Náutico de Palma. This year, world championships in different classes have been contested both at the Club Nàutic S’Arenal and the Real Club Náutico de Palma. We are used to seeing major regattas in the Bay of Palma, but this time, the epicenter of world sailing is elsewhere.
We move to the south of Mallorca, to a nautical club located in the municipality of Campos, set against the crystal-clear waters of Es Trenc. This week, the spotlight is on Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, which is hosting a world championship for the first time, and moreover, for the IQFoil class, a discipline that debuted this year at the 2024 Paris Olympics with the club's own Nacho Baltasar representing Spain.
Nearly 400 sailors from 36 countries are navigating the waters of Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita these days to claim the world title in the 2024 IQFoil Youth & Junior World Championship. Hundreds of athletes, along with their technical teams, create an incredible scene both at the club's facilities and on Sa Ràpita beach, showcasing the vastness of the competition.
Facing an event of such magnitude, and with Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita as the host—a club with which we have been working for years in communication and media relations—the Nautimedia team has temporarily left our studios in the center of Palma to relocate our offices to Sa Ràpita. Although these days are hectic, what we can assure you is that we've gained in views, because working with Es Trenc beach as a backdrop, whether sunny, raining, or thundering, is a real luxury!
Equipped with our gear (computers, cameras, microphones, tripods...), we have traversed facilities we know very well, capturing what is a historic event for the club—organizing a world sailing championship. Moreover, we have enjoyed the spectacle from the front line on the boats provided by the club to capture the best images of a numerous, fast, and impressive fleet sailing in the waters of southern Mallorca.
In this way, we have been continuously reporting through the club's social networks and press releases sent to associates and media outlets about everything happening this week in Sa Ràpita. Daily information, in which we are explaining through direct testimonials, both the sporting and organizational aspects of this world championship.
Club staff, representatives and organizers of the IQFoil class, and participants have stood in front of our cameras and microphones to tell us firsthand how this world championship is being experienced and their impressions of the Sa Ràpita area, an area unknown to many sailors.
Furthermore, as could be expected in an event of this nature, which promotes sport, passion for the sea, and the Balearic Islands, Nautimedia has supported this competition, being one of the sponsors of the World Championship.
